Specifications︰1. TF Type Self-anchored joint

1.1 Principle

The principle of joint anchoring consist in transmitting the axial forces from one pipeline component to the following one, thus ensuring that the joint does not come apart.

Self-anchored joints allow the axial thrusts arising at particular points ( bends, tapers, tees, blank flanges) to be distributed over one or more ipes, thus avoiding installation of concrete anchor blocks.

1.2 Description

The Seal is provided by a T type socket

The axial force transmission is through a mechanical arrangement independent of that providing the seal , comprising:

- works applied weld bead on the pipe spigot

- a one-piece anchoring locking ring, with a curved external profile, whick abuts against the weld bead

- a special gland, which blocks the locking ring.

- iron bolts

2. Assembly – TF type self-anchored joint

Assembly of TF type self-anchored joint is achieved by pushing a spigot into a T type socket, then holding it in position with an anchoring system comprising a locking ring and bolted gland.

If a pipes is cut on site, the spigot has to be chamfered and anchor bead has to welded on.

Ductile iron pipe with mechanical socket joint system (RAJ) could be used in water supply and sewage systems. Pipes come complete with a rubber EPDM seal, which, unlike pipes with a standard type of joint, has the shape of a trapezoid to ensure a tight joint, given the design features of this type of connection. Also with pipe supply - a special fixing gland, a set of bolt-hooks, washers and nuts to them. This type of joint makes pipes' connections tear-resistant at axial displacements, which can be associated with a landslide or landing, earthquakes, landslides, etc. High-strength cast iron, as well as internal and external coating of the pipe provide a long service life.

Description
General information: This type of mechanical pipe joint is used in those cases where there is a high tensile load on the pipe joints, as well as for pulling the pipeline system out of the Ductile Iron Pipes in the case (inside another pipeline system), ideally suited for installation over loose soil or marshy land where one cannot provide anchor blocks at tee points or bends etc. The bellows spigot of this type of pipe has an annular collar to facilitate the gripping of special hook bolts that fix the socket connections and the smooth end of the pipe. The smooth end of the pipe has a round metal gland that has an L-shape and a sufficient number of bolt holes. The bell of the connecting pipe does not have any channel or sideways, but at the same time the distance between the wall of the bell and the smooth end of the pipe is sufficient for the EPDM seal set which causes a 100% tightness of the joint.

Main technical features:

Pressure class in accordance with EN 545:2010 and ISO 2531:2009.
External coating in zinc- aluminum alloy (400 g/m2) applied by metallization and watery epoxy paint certified to be in contact with water intended for human use.
Internal lining in cement mortar blast furnace sulfate-resistant in accordance with EN 545 and ISO 4179
Pipes are designed in such a way that individual pipes are connected using the lock system to form one complete system without need of welding, screwing, testing, surface treatment or without having problem of loosening.
Internal linings:

Cement Mortar Lining - is a dense homogeneous layer covering the entire inner surface of the trunk of the pipe. The mixture of cement mortar contains cement, sand and water. Cement can be of several types depending on the type and chemical composition of the fluid pumped in the pipeline: ordinary portland cement (OPC), sulphate resistant cement (SRC), blast furnace slag cement (BFSC), high alumina cement (HAC). At the same time, the water used in the cement-sand mixture corresponds to the standard set for drinking water. The thickness of the cement-sand coating is for pipes DN40-300 - 4,00 mm, DN350-600 - 5,00 mm, DN700-1200 - 6,00 mm, DN1400-2000 - 9,00 mm, DN2200 - 12,00 mm.;
Epoxy Seal Coat;
Bituminous Seal Coat.
Outside coatings:

Zinc Coating (130 gm/m²² or 400 gm/m²);
Alloy of Zinc and Aluminum with a minimum mass of 400 gm/m².
Finishing protection layer:

Blue epoxy (from 70 to 100 micron);
Redepoxy;
Black bitumen
Special coating:

External and Internal Polyurethane Coating (DN 100 - DN 1600)
International standards: ISO2531, ISO7186, BS EN545, BS EN598, ISO:9001, ISO:14001.

Standard Met︰The anchoring of ductile iron pipelines can be achieved using two technical solutions :

Insert type anchoring techniques
Bead type anchoring techniques
Insert type anchoring techniques
With insert type anchoring systems, joint separation is prevented by means of hard stainless steel inserts which fit into sockets in the pipes or fittings. These inserts have teeth which grip the spigot end of the pipe or fitting and lock it against axial displacement. These insert systems rely on the ductile nature of the cast iron which allows the penetration of inserts without any risk of failure.
The main advantage of these systems is that they can be implemented on site without any special preparation.


Bead type anchoring techniques
With bead type anchoring systems, joint separation is prevented by pressing a metal locking ring, which fits into socket in the pipe or into the mating flange installed before the socket, onto a metal bead on the spigot end. This bead is made by welding (in the case of pipes) or by casting during manufacture (which is generally the case for fittings).
The main advantage of these anchoring systems is their ability to withstand very high pressure.
With bead type devices, the anchoring mechanism is always located in a specially dedicated chamber.
